KAC SG endorses the organisation of Kabaddi tournaments by affiliated partners. Thus far, it has endorsed two national level tournaments within Singapore. These are:
KAC SG organises National Trials for various divisions in order to attract sportsmen of different age groups to try out for the National Kabaddi teams. Players who perform well at these trials, which test both Kabaddi gameplay skills and physical fitness, will be invited to attend the National training camps ahead of regional and international tournaments.
Beyond the sport itself, KAC SG is interested in bringing the community of Kabaddi enthusiasts in Singapore together so as to grow the support for the sport in Singapore. These include players, coaches and officials and also parents, sponsors and supporters of the sport in Singapore. The association believes that through these informal gatherings, the Kabaddi fraternity in Singapore has greater potential to grow bigger and closer and thus organises these gatherings on a periodic basis for its members and sponsors.
To greater support the younger athletes that play Kabaddi as part of the National Under 21, Under 18 and Under 15 teams, the association has created the KAC SG Parents Support Group, which links the association’s key members and coaches to parents whose children have been selected to attend National Training Camps and play for Singapore in regional and international tournaments. This gives greater assurance to parents that their children’s welfare is taken care of and at the same time, provides greater support for the players who represent their nation in regional and international competitions.
KAC SG actively reaches out to our counterparts in other countries as well as regional and international Kabaddi organisations. Through such communication and interaction, the association aims to develop further training, playing and learning opportunities for local Kabaddi players, coaches and officials. As KAC SG works on bringing Singapore Kabaddi into the international realm, such strategic partnerships will be crucial in accelerating those goals and putting Singapore Kabaddi on the global map.
Singapore Kabaddi’s growth over the last few years has been phenomenal. What started as a recreational activity, has evolved into a sport in which Singapore has gained representation regionally. This would not have been possible without the support of local government bodies that have been part of the journey, supporting the growth of Kabaddi as a team sport which integrates players from all walks of life into a single fraternity or playing unit. These organisations include Sports SG, People’s Association, National Youth Council and National Integration Council amongst others. KAC SG is committed to working with all of these organisations as we move forward in stitching Kabaddi into the national sporting fabric of Singapore.
